# Terms

The terms for the Alto Calendar iPhone app, sold through the App Store under Apple's standard license, and for altocalendar.com.

These terms cover the Alto Calendar app and this website, both run by System Operator LLC. Last updated October 12, 2026.

## The app

### What it is

Alto Calendar is an iPhone app that builds a Busy/Free calendar from the calendars you pick, for you to share with Apple's own calendar sharing. It is a program running on your phone, not a service. Your calendars are kept by Apple, not by us. [Privacy](/privacy) says what little leaves your phone.

### License and purchases

Alto Calendar is distributed through the App Store and licensed to you under Apple's standard [Licensed Application End User License Agreement](https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/). The app is free. Pro is a one-time in-app purchase, and a tip is an optional in-app purchase that unlocks nothing; both are made with Apple, and payment, refunds and taxes are handled by Apple under the App Store terms. There is no subscription.

### Your calendars

Alto Calendar never changes the calendars it reads. It writes only to the one Busy/Free calendar it makes. Who you share that calendar with, and whether they can edit it, is set by you in Apple's Calendar.

### Check what you share

A Busy/Free calendar shows when you are busy. Before you share it, make sure you are happy for that person to know that much.

### As is

Under Apple's agreement the app is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows.

## The website

altocalendar.com describes Alto Calendar. There is nothing to sign up for. Read it, link to it and quote it; do not try to break or overload it. The words and images on this site belong to System Operator LLC. Apple, iPhone, iCloud and Calendar belong to Apple.

## Both

### Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to what you paid for Alto Calendar in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

### Changes

We can update the app, the website and these terms. We date this page when it changes.

### Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, where System Operator LLC is formed, without regard to conflict of law rules.
