Alto Calendar

Questions

Is Alto Calendar free?

Yes. Your Busy/Free calendar, sharing it, sharing with one person, the widgets and Siri are free. Pro is one purchase that shows everyone who shares with you and adds the Lock Screen countdown. It is not a subscription.

What can the people I share with see?

Only times. Each block is labelled busy, with no title, no place, no guests and no notes. They cannot change your calendar: sharing leaves Allow Editing off.

Does Alto Calendar see my events?

It reads when your events are, never what they are called. Event details never leave your device: only the blocks go into the calendar you share.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no account, no sign-up and no server. Your calendars stay in iCloud, where they already are.

Why does it need iCloud?

Apple shares calendars through iCloud. A calendar kept only on the phone cannot be shared with anyone, so turn on iCloud Calendar in Settings before you make yours.

Does the other person need Alto Calendar?

No. Your Busy/Free calendar is an ordinary shared calendar, so it shows in their Calendar app. With Alto Calendar they also get Today, the widgets and Siri, and can make one of their own to share back.

Does it work with Google or Outlook calendars?

Alto Calendar reads every calendar on your iPhone, including Google, Outlook and Exchange accounts added in Settings, and builds your Busy/Free calendar from the ones you pick. The calendar it makes and shares is in iCloud.

What if someone looks busy when they are not?

Declined invitations and events marked free are ignored, and all-day events are off by default. If their blocks look old, they may not have opened Alto Calendar for a while: it says when they were last updated.

Does Pro restore on a new phone?

Yes, on every device with your Apple Account. Restore Purchases is in Settings.

Which languages does it speak?

44, the same as this website: the language menu at the top lists them.
